The hotel was built in 1894 and was then known as Hotel Belle Vue. In 1911 it took the name of Hotel de la Paix for the first time. Well-known for its pleasant location a stone's throw from Lake Gérardmer, the hotel-restaurant was run by several owners over the years, until it was taken over in May 2002 by Michel Harasse who renamed the restaurant 'Le Bistrot des Bateliers' and developed a partnership with Logis de France until 31 December 2011.

After a phase of renovation work and modernization throughout the hotel between 2002 and 2008, the 'Bistrot des Bateliers' was renamed 'The Alsace". Then, between 2008 and 2013 some of the public areas of the hotel were restored, and the new 'Alsace' became known as 'La Brasserie de la Paix' in November 2012. The Hotel de la Paix and its brasserie, well-known for their friendly atmosphère, local, traditional cuisine and ideal location a stone's throw from the lake and the centre of town, welcome families, couples and friends in simple comfort. In 2017 an extensive renovation programme saw themed rooms created in the hotel's annexe. In 2018 the Brasserie de la Paix finally closed its doors, and our guests can now eat at the nearby restaurant of Hotel Beau Rivage.
